Too bad Byword does not offer local wi-fi synching with its Mac app. I have to stick to iOS app only.

One of the older and solid simple apps for writing text. Reliable and fast sync with Dropbox. I still hope they will add solarized colors as an color option.

Using this on an iPhone 6 iOS 8.1 and it takes 30 seconds to open a document, leaving the app causes it to hang, and Ive experienced a number of crashes. Hopefully this is resolved soon.

Among the influx of lightweight iOS text processors that have hit the market over the last few years, Byword is by far the best of the bunch. Its barebones simple to use, and yet it has all the sophisticated features (Handoff, iCloud syncing, Dropbox support, publish to web) you need to be more efficient in your work. Bonus points to the developer for producing regular updates to the product...and for wisely saying no to review begware. Even at double the price, Byword would be a steal for how much time it can save you.

Do not get this app until it has been repaired! In its latest iteration (2.3.2.) it crashes immediately upon opening on my iPad Air, and simply opens a black screen on my iPhone. iCloud fails to function upon reloading the app and causes the instant crashes. This seems to be a huge failure of quality control. The app is literally useless to me at this time.

(Something is wrong with the last update. It fails to launch.) Latest update fixed the issue. All is well again.

Unable to give new documents a heading. As well, on iPhone 6 in byword settings the page is empty. No settings for Byword except its icon

I have gone through many text editors apps looking for the definitive go to app but there always seems to compromise which slows me down and effects productivity. With Byword there seems to be less resistance in getting any of my writing done. Great UI, Keyboard layout so simple to use and now Handoff which has been a blessing. Now it is so easy to write a document, note, email quickly and move off to my next task very quickly.

Created a document and then I spent all this time trying to get back to the main menu. Font is too small and there are no main preference settings. Waste of money.

Really love this: its clean, easy to use, and trouble-free in my experience.

Clean, clear editing with good MarkDown support, easy integration with DropBox, and a variety of export options to hand. (Ive not need the in-app purchases for my needs - the variety of basic exporters is great.) This is what I use to write text on my iPad.

Love the new features, but even without them, ByWord rocks.

Strictly US language?? My iOS keyboard is Canadian but in Byword Canadian spellings are marked as errors. Too bad. I like this app until now.

Ive tried so many, but this is the app I keep launching and creating documents in. Markdown is definitely well suited to tablet composition, and this app delivers a fluid, unobtrusive user experience that she perfect complement. I hope the developers are still active. Id love to see quicker switching to Markdown preview. At the moment its two touches to get there. Side-by-side viewing might be too much to ask for, but the devs should look to MarkdownPad on the PC for an example. Strongly recommend picking this app up.

ByWord is the best text editor/ markdown editor in my stable of editors. I sync it with DropBox, which allows interchanging with ATOM, and Ulysses.

I use byword for OSX and I love it, but the iOS version is garbage. Theres no way to hide basic things like word count, there is an omnipresent bar on the bottom of the screen that is ugly and serves no purpose. Of course, it cant be hidden as well. The app lacks basic features, is extremely expensive compared alternatives and is visually hideous.

…there doesnt seem to be any way to change the styles used in Markdown preview / PDF output. Also not really seeing this apps niche versus more versatile competitors.

iPhoneとMac間の同期は非常にスムーズですがiPad版だけがスムーズとは言えません。 iCloudで同期するよりDropboxで同期した方がより早く同期されます。 Dropboxで同期すればMacとiPhoneだけでなく、WindowsやAndroidでもDropboxから開いて編集と同期がスムーズに出来ました。 iPad版も改良されれば星5のアプリだと思います。

Ive tried some of text editor which syncs among some devices, this app is the best for me so far. Its UI is beautiful. Its simplicity is good. iCloud sync and Dropbox sync are very nice. In addition to them, if it is added Evernote sync, that’s the greatest app for me. I hope iPhone version and iPad version are added Font size change like Mac version, and I want line hight change in all version.
