tag rendering is wrong

Basic rendering is almost often wrong : lists, titles, hyperlinks. Instead of adding features, rendering engine should be fixed to work according to specs. See Darling Fireball documentation. It is written in Markdown and Id the definitive Markdown test document. Web version is very different than the one seen in this app. Most of the issues are around markup that begin on a new line and that must not be considered in the same paragraph as previous line or vise versa. I bought this editor and Im still waiting to be able to use it. Online help on markup language should be available. Web links and images should be visible and usable in preview mode.

Its good, not great

I have been using Byword for about 3 months and I really like it, as someone who takes a ton of notes, app is great for that, also, email the notes is great. But there are a few pain points that just bother. The added keys at the top are great, but there just isnt enough of them to be useful, I always find myself switch between them. Glad to see that you can get the single quotes through extra keyboard. ## What Rocks * The ability to send a rtf email from the app, *perfect* * The look and feel of the app (I liked more before the changed to dark grey though) * The link and image keys take what is in your clipboard and insert it in the body and highlight the text, someone thought a lot about how that should work and it really is brilliant * I love the bullet key, doesnt matter where you are on the line, it will make that line a bullet * Automatic billeting ## New update The new update brings a few changes. * The original light grey has been switched for a dark grey, which makes the app less beautiful but easier for those with poor eyesight. * The dark theme is there, but the setting is hard to fine, really, in the folder settings? Why wouldnt you put it with the other preferences? * Added an add a folder button, now, I dont have to go into Dropbox to add a folder (adding a folder in Dropbox is also a pain). ## Other shortcomings * I dont love the limited choice of fonts * I like the extra keys to the keyboard, I dont like how I have to switch between them to get a header tag ## Final Thoughts I do like this app, and I use it often, but at the same time, I am always looking at other markdown apps wondering if I should spend $4 on something with a bit more functionality.

Good, but not great

This is one of the better note taking apps, but it suffers from an overly strong allegiance to DropBox, a US cloud service provider. There is so much DropBox in this app that it comes across as an advert for the service. Although they now also provide iCloud support, they push DropBox on you every time you start the app, open the settings for the app, and even when you go to the file menu. Very distasteful, quite uncool, and it ruins what would otherwise be a very nice app. For those of us that dont agree that DropBox is the best thing since sliced bread, live in countries where its impossible to access or use the iPad for educational uses (which rules out DropBox), this blind, sycophantic "support" for DropBox is a bit rude to say the least.

Good app, bad fonts choice

Does work like a charm. Its a shame the fonts included are so limited and line-height is so wrong. The app could use some love on the typography side because, well... its a notes app.

Great

Its awesome, I have no idea what people expect from a $3 text-editor but this is definitely one of the best. Dont listen to the complaints.

Perfect!

As the guy below me said, dont listen to the complains! Its a wonderful app, and for 2.99 only..!

Beautiful by flawed

The look and feel of the app on a friends MBA sold me on byword. However, Im disappointed that for a premium it doesnt offer premium options. Organization is very restrictive, and you cannot even move a document into a folder unless on the desktop version. Brutal. As well, its hard to use such a nice looking app when it constantly freezes on my iPhone 5 and has to be quit and reopened. Frustrating. I really want this to work. Fingers crossed for updates to address these things.

Useful

Pros: Very useful for jotting things down. Better than Notes on iphones because, used with Dropbox, you can access these docs even when you dont have your cell phone. Cons: You can create documents but you cant delete them.

In-app purchases in a paid app are sleazy.

Why would you try to screw over your customers?

Please Bring Back Old Fonts

First, I understand the need to have an upgrade fee. Im thankful you put what you did behind the in-app paywall instead of basic writing features. My issue with the new update is the font changes. Please bring back the old font selections. The line spacing and font choices we have now makes your app look significantly less appealing than it did prior to this update. It was that clean look that lead so many of us to buy your app. Please reconsider.

Great writing app

Fantastic app, but would love support for rich text items such as underline, italic, and bold, like the desktop version

Nowhere did it say

I bought this app, and nowhere did it say that I would have to do an additional in-app buy to use it. And, when I bought it (again), nowhere did it tell me how to use it. I dont like saying this, but this was a terrible waste of money.

Issues with the latest versions

I use this app a lot, but even after this update the cursor is just all over the place. Very annoying. The app itself is worth 5 stars, but cursor is a big issue.

Great except slows down to a crawl

I find the app well-presented with a pleasant font and just enough of the critical features I use in serious writing. The main issue is after a while writing whether its time or amount of actual text written, but the whole app slows right down. I need to pause and let the cursor catch up. I have exited every app I have running on my iPad 4 and it still does the same thing. Especially scary when saving or exporting it looks like it froze. I cant use it as is-please take a look and see if you can find the issue.

Clean text editor with syncing and publishing that you need

Byword is a complete text editor workflow in itself allowing you to write with text expander and markdown support, sync with your dropbox or iCloud, and post to Tumblr or Wordpress. It’s got what you need.

best of its kind

a perfect app oh its kind id add more options on the first row, more numering

Use it on a daily basis!

Ive been using ByWord as my primary writing tool. Love its simplicity and reliability. Keep up the great work!

The beauty of raw text

This is my main writing application. It doesnt matter if Im using my iMac or iPad, the writing is distraction free, drop dead gorgeous and syncs seamlessly using Dropbox. When your content is your focus, this app is your answer. My only request is to implement typewriter scrolling on the iPad to make using an external keyboard more pleasurable. Otherwise, I can see no reason to ever go elsewhere. Ive written novels in this app. Its that good.

Stable, straightforward, good value.

I use it with Byword on Mac too. Syncs easily, no problems with it either.

Poor export as PDF

The exported PDF lost all URLS links. PDF can be exported to Dropbox. However, export PDF and open in other applications is broken.
